Unless you have been living under a rock the last few years, especially the last few months-you have seen the use of AI booming. Thanks to OPEN AI and its juggernaut launch with ChatGPT. You also have seen many in the creative communities displaying the art and avatars they've made for character visuals using Midjourney.
AI is already changing the face of writing for fiction authors, and it is expected to become even more prevalent in the future. With the help of AI-powered tools, writers can generate unlimited content and automate tasks such as story planning, writing, and editing 12. Google has even released an AI-powered fiction writer called 'Wordcraft' that offers traditional text editor features along with additional commands that writers can use to trigger AI-powered enhancements to their work 2.
One of the most significant ways AI is changing the face of writing for fiction authors is by providing them with drafting buddies 3. These AI writing systems can help writers with everything from generating new ideas to providing feedback on their work. The biggest selling point and use case for these systems so far has been their ability to help writers draft their work more efficiently.
While AI is not yet able to replace human creativity and imagination, it is becoming an increasingly valuable tool for writers 1.As with any new endeavor, you also have to consider the legal ramifications as discussed on K.M. Robinson's Channel with Lawyer tony Iliakostas.
As AI technology continues to evolve, we can expect to see more sophisticated writing assistance tools that can help authors at every stage of the writing process, from ideation to publication 4.
It also is understood that in the wrong hands, this could lead to some very unsavory or downright terrible "literature" being produced. Sorry, I could not "pretty that up" at all. Do I think writers will become obsolete? Heck, no? Do I think writers can or will become more efficient with the help of AI? Absolutely, this one did.
